[ McGillis hasn't really been gone for long - a week since he died, and no less than a day since he was piloting a movable stuffed animal through these spaces. Even so, it is a strange and wistful feeling to be back here in his corporeal form, with not even a scar to show for the death he experienced.
He's in the sitting room now, browsing the books without really looking at any of them. An idle motion, fingers brushing along spines. He looks up when Alhaitham enters. ]
[Walking into the sitting room feels like walking into a dream once more--a sort of disconnect in concept between yesterday and today that leaves him unmoored. He saw the dead return, of course. He watched from afar, lingered well behind the edges to count heads and reunions.
Reasonably, someone would be in one of these rooms. Someone always is. But he still stalls in the doorway and stares.]
So we do. [Finally he beelines to one of the chairs and sinks into it.] Are you already back at work? You haven't even been alive a day.
Discipline is also managing fatigue. Do you think opening the museum buys us more time?
[Or is it still on a rapid collapse? Does Magi just devour them at the end anyway? There shouldn't be a time table, but what about someone's wish to end it?]
It's hard to say. Escaping from it didn't change our physical states any, at least. We're animated corpses, and the energy of those who stayed for the longest appears to still be getting drained.
Unfortunately, that may mean her 'functionality' hasn't been diminished.
[ It really does just kind of suck all around, but one way or another things will come to an end soon. McGillis prefers that to the endless waiting game. ]
Oh? Were you animated corpses in the museum too? [Or was it only a result of breaking out?]
But if their energy is getting drained yours probably is as well. You just don't feel it yet, but you will. [Alhaitham feelings it, too.] Either our next cure works or we'll be consumed.

We were always animated corpses - though we've actually been regaining bodily functions since the collapse began. Not the heart though, that is missing.
